On October 24th Eurofound released a new report on gender differences in the labour market, titled Women and Men Working Conditions in Europe.
The closing of gender gaps in the labour market – such as employment and unemployment rates and pay levels – has been one of the main objectives of EU policy. However, despite much progress in recent years, gender inequalities are still evident in areas such as access to the labour market, employment patterns and associated working conditions. The report explores gender differences across several dimensions of working conditions, examining relevant country differences, analysing the different occupational groups of both men and women, and comparing the public and private sectors. It also looks at the impact of the crisis on gender segregation in employment.
